The Active Living on the Esplanade program offers an exciting range of introductory level classes. From Aqua to Zumba there is something for everyone to try!

Aquatic exercise is a low impact, effective, and fun way to get fit, burn calories, strengthen joints and bones and reduce stress. Aqua aerobics increases general well being with little or no impact and you don't even have to be able to swim!

Want to learn to play beach volleyball, increase your skills, or just want to have a fun hour of sport? Elite coaches Joel and Luke lead this weekly clinic, that combines skill training and play, with groupings for all skill levels. Come on down and bash a ball!

BODY STRONG BALANCE, STRENGTH & FLEXIBILITY
Body Strong is a balance, strength and flexibility program using body weight, resistance bands and balls to target all areas of the body. Suitable for adults, adolescence and children, this is a safe and effective program that provides health and fitness results in a fun, interactive outdoor environment.
Thursday 5.30pm meet on the Lagoon Lawn
Splash your way into shape with an invigorating low-impact aquatic exercise. Known as the Zumba® "pool party," the Aqua Zumba program gives new meaning to the idea of a refreshing workout. Integrating the Zumba philosophy with traditional aquatic fitness disciplines, Aqua Zumba® blends it all together into workout that's cardio-conditioning, body-toning, and most of all, exhilarating beyond belief.
Tuesday 5.30pm meet at the Lagoon
Bouldering; a form of rock climbing at low height, evolved through the focus of climbing technique. A minimal amount of equipment is required. Bouldering is not only a fun safe introduction to rock climbing. Suited to all levels of fitness and climbing experience. Over the sessions you will learn and develop skills to solve a range of climbing problems. Like any form of rock climbing, good for the body, mind and soul
If you have climbing shoes, great bring them along - Dunlop volleys are a good alternative and of course sneakers are OK, bring a water bottle and maybe a towel
Tuesday 5.00pm meet at the Bouldering Park
First and foremost a fitness class, Boxinfun incorporates punches, kicks and knees to get you fit and strong - fast. Based around boxing and kickboxing, you will learn how to hit and kick safely and effectively, burn fat and let your cardio fitness reach new heights.
Monday 5.30pm meet at Fogarty Park
CIRCUIT & CROSS TRAINING
This class features resistance and interval training to encourage weight loss and strength development in a fun and safe environment.
Saturdays 8am meet on the Lagoon lawn
This is a perfect workout for every new mum. Mumbalates is fun, energising, playful and best of all you can do it with your baby!
The 45 minute class includes baby play, pelvic floor and ab exercises, energising stretches, and full body strength training.
Wednesday 9.30am meet at Fogarty Park
Pilates is suitable for everyone regardless of fitness level. It is especially beneficial to improve flexibility and core strength and for people who have lower back problems and issues associated with poor posture and muscle imbalances.

SAHAJA YOGA MEDITATION
Enjoy the unique experience of Sahaja Yoga Meditation, relax and allow the power of the Kundalini energy to rise inside and be in a state of thoughtless awareness. Once the Kundalini is awakened inside it nourishes the seven chakras inside you and helps us have towards inner peace and improved physical, mental and spiritual well being.
Saturday 7.30am meet on the Lagoon lawn
Tai Chi reduces stress responses and the incidence of anxiety, depression, fatigue and general mood disturbance. Tai Chi improves balance and coordination, postural control while stretching, toning and relaxing the body.
Wednesday 6.30am meet at the Main Plaza
Yoga covers 5 main areas; meditation, to still the mind and help with focus, breathing to improve quality of life, postures for balance strength and flexibility, relaxation where healing takes place, positive philosophy to enhance relationships and daily living.
Friday 6.30am meet on the Lagoon deck
Zumba classes feature exotic rhythms set to high energy Latin and international beats. Before you know it you are getting fit and energy levels are soaring! It is easy to do, effective and totally exhilarating!
Friday 5.30pm meet at Fogarty Park
parkrun 5km run - it's you against the clock, every Saturday at 7:00am.
If you can, register before your first run www.parkrun.com.au/cairns and bring a printed copy of your barcode, If you forget it, that's ok but you won't get a recorded time.
