Areas for Hire
There are a range of facilities and areas in the precinct that are available for your exclusive hire - from individual BBQ's to exclusive parkland areas. Wedding ceremonies, receptions, gala dinners, cocktail parties, community events to concerts are also welcome to the precinct, with the facilities and natural surrounds providing a spectacular venue for all to enjoy.For further information on the area you may be seeking, please read below or call Esplanade Management on 4044 3715. Barbecues
Dotted along the Boardwalk are 12 different named BBQ's (after various birdlife which inhibit the area). These, along with the picnic areas are cleaned each day and are free to use for individuals and parties under 50 persons. If you however have 50 – 150 people or require exclusive use then a particular BBQ area needs to be booked. Esplanade Eastern, Western & Northern Lawn
What ever your requirement one of our beautiful parkland lawn areas is sure to suit. Each area has dedicated sites for power and water access. Fogarty Park Sound Shell
Many large scale events occur at Fogarty Park from council run events such as Carols by Candlelight to other community based festivals and concerts.
The performance facility boasts the following attributes:
- Stage area of approximately 65m2
- Stage height of approximately 0.9m
- Roof area of approximately 300m2
- Small change facility at rear of stage
- Disabled access ramp
- 3 phase power
- Onsite paid parking sites available
- Seating capacity for up to 6,000 people to sit on blankets around grassed area

Munro Martin Park
Munro Martin Park was Cairns’ first recreational reserve and the site of many important events. Most of the towns sporting clubs can trace their origins to this park bounded by Florence, Grafton, Minnie and Sheridan Streets and now days it’s frequently booked out by such spectaculars such as Lennons Circus. Featuring a raised open grass surface stage the park sits on .42 hectares of land and its estimated seating capacity is 3000+. Skate Park & Volleyball Courts
Officially opened on 9 December 2006, the Cairns Esplanade Skate Park sits within an action-packed Youth Activity Precinct which also features international-standard beach volleyball courts. At 2,315m2, the skate park is Australia’s largest and most innovative to date. Providing new and exciting recreational opportunities for teenagers, the facility has been called ‘one of the seven wonders of the skate park world’ due to its innovative design and contextual aesthetic. The inverted cradle is a dominating feature and the highlight of the park as it is the first for Australasia.
The skate park is not only Australia’s largest all ages public sporting facility of its type but an important national and international community resource challenging the perception of what skate parks are and how they can integrate into the public domain. It is not the traditional mass of grey concrete, with impressive landscaping incorporated to provide aesthetic appeal, natural shade and amenity. Since opening, the park has appeared in numerous skateboarding and BMX magazines and websites, being seen as a benchmark project for active non-structured recreational facilities and their integration into the wider public landscape.
